Welcome to the Website of South Shore Billy!

This is the front page of my new website. Of course, other pages follow.   

Yes, my name is Billy, and I have lived on the South Shore of Long Island since 1979.  So I guess the name is appropriate.  It's a take off on the name of rocker South Side Johnny.  For all of those readers who are also members of a Roman Legion, I also go by Villemulus Australis Litoralis.

Before I lived on the South Shore I lived on the North Shore, in an Outer Borough of New York City,  Since I was not too far from a major league baseball stadium, I got to like the sport.  There were also junk yards nearby and I got to like automobiles.  To top it off, there was the Long Island Railroad and the New York City subway's #7 line right outside the ballpark.

The reason I moved from one shore to the other is that my other half is from the South Shore.  Once we got married in 1979 we have been "southerners" ever since.

In 1985 I joined the local fire department and celebrated my 20 year anniversary in June 2005.  I got to do some very interesting things and also prove that I am not a wuss. 

 In 2001 I started to play softball again, with my employer.  Most of our games were played in Central Park, but there were some played on the Upper West Side or on the Lower East Side.  Too bad I got laid off in February 2005.  Then I played as a free agent on the Island.  But in 2008 I was back on the diamond with a new employer.
